Nova

Built in 1973 by a British shipyard and designed by the Australian architect Lock Crowther, Nova began her career in 1975 with Eugène Riguidel in the Falmouth-Azores race, where she finished second, just behind the Three Legs of Mann. In 1976, she set sail for the Transat Anglaise. The fleet included everything from small 10-metre trimarans such as Nova and Mike Birch’s The Third Turtle (which finished in an incredible second place) to giant monohulls such as Alain Colas’s 72-metre Club Méditerranée!

Gulf Streamer

TRINITINE

Built by her architect-skipper with the aim of winning the 1988 Transat Anglaise in Class 5, she was forced to retire after her float broke. Sold in 1990, she was used for coastal cruising in Brittany. In 1998, it was refurbished to compete in the 2000 Transat Anglaise, where it led for 13 days before its forestay broke. It then sailed on cruises between the Azores and the Mediterranean.

Hydrofolie

Hydrofolie was launched in 1978. Alain Labbé, its first owner, wanted to compete in the Transat double-handed race, as well as the Transat Anglaise solo race, on a small, low-cost trimaran that could be built quickly. Its foils were initially attached by a hinge and could be set in two positions: raised at 45° (to relieve the boat) and vertical (like a centreboard). Its designers had the idea of installing a second set of foils to lift the boat completely out of the water!
